Tender for Myanmar solar BOO project, Five Chinese companies participate

Myanmar launched the second round of 12 solar projects, each with a planned capacity of 20-40 MW.
In May 2021, Electric Power Generation Enterprise (EPGE), a power generation company under the Ministry of Electricity and Energy (MOEE) of Myanmar, officially launched a bid for 12 solar power plant projects, and the bidding will end on August 11. Disclosure of project and tender details:
1. Project mode: BOO (build-operate-own);
2. Franchise period: 20 years;
3. Interested bidders need to provide proof of land acquisition for the project;
4. Bidders can propose tariffs in U.S. dollars, but EPGE only supports payment in Myanmar Kyats;
5. EPGE will issue an acceptance letter to the selected bidders and sign the power purchase agreement within 150 days;

7. Interested bidders include 5 Chinese companies, 4 Thai companies, 3 Myanmar companies, 1 Malaysian company, and 1 Australian company:
* The first round of bidding was opened in September 2020, and 25 of the 29 sites were awarded to Chinese companies. The lowest electricity price is $0.0366/kWh.
